District 8 is Chicago-land's Machinist Union District Lodge that
services members in nearly one hundred manufacturing businesses
throughout Chicago and the Suburbs. We represent members up Northwest in
Rockford, Southwest Mokena, East in Harvey, and West in Carol Stream,
and many places in between.
Our membership is a diverse group of hard working individuals that
work in many areas of the "City of Big Shoulders". People who are
members of the IAM District 8 might handle your baggage at O'Hare
Airport, trim your trees or answer your residential needs in the Village
of Oak Park. They also fabricate the conveyors that carry cans of
"Campbell's Soup", and it's likely they manufactured the popcorn machine
at your local bank, and theater. Our members proudly service equipment
at the CTA, build and service packaging machinery for Kraft Foods.
Members of District 8 are there to make sure you can find many of the
brand name items you buy at the grocery store, such as Nabisco products,
Wesson Oil, Twinkies, and Entenmanns Products. They also manufacture
many of the parts that are part of the clean air systems on the cars you
drive. Our members build the machines that help produce your heating
ducts in your home and workplace, and produce the machinery that bevels
your windows and mirrors. They also fuel the big 747's that carry you
and your family on vacation.
Members of District 8 do about anything that needs to be done in
Northwest Illinois. Each month many of them attend any one of the ten
Local Lodge meetings that are held each month. The ten Local Lodges are
located on the North and South Side of Chicago, in Elgin, Rockford,
Dixon, Rochelle, Genoa, Marengo and in Mundelein. The IAM Label can be
found on many proud member's tool boxes, jackets, and automobile
bumpers. They are proud of their work, and proud to be IAM members of
District 8.
